Checking if Your Website is Down or IP Blocked

In this tutorial we will walk you through checking whether your website is down or your IP address has been blocked.

One of the most frustrating problems for any website owner is when they cannot access their website.
At MCloud9, we completely understand how infuriating this can be which is why we do our best to prevent this from happening by ensuring a 99.9% uptime.

However, if your website is down there are a few things that you can do to test what may have caused the issue.

To check if your website is down or IP blocked, follow these steps:

  1. Check the MCloud9 Network status to see if the network is down.
Follow this guide to learn how to view the MCloud9 Network Status.
If the network is down then we are probably performing website maintenance and your website should be back up in a few minutes.

  2. Check if you can access your website from another computer or device that is not linked to your current network (i.e. not WiFi).
If you are able to access your website on another device then it probably means there is a problem with your local network.
Try rebooting your router or contacting your ISP for assistance if the problem persists.

  3. Check if your IP is blocked.
If other people can view your website from different locations and devices then it could mean that your IP address has been automatically blocked on our server.
This happens for security purposes if our server detects multiple failed login attempts to your account.
To resolve this, simply contact our priority Technical Support department and let them check your IP address (make sure you are logged into your Client Portal).

Note: You can obtain your IP address using a Google search or using an IP detector website.

  4. If the above solutions don’t help, contact our priority Technical Support.
Let our experts assist you by contacting our priority Technical Support department.
